We have identified the principle of location-based management in construction. Location-based management provides improved planning, scheduling and control of projects by using small units of location to manage complex project information in a pre-emptive manner. The integrated construction modelling, estimating and scheduling combined with powerful 5D visualisation is a unique and powerful combination for advanced project management. This powerful suite has been built by Vico Software to provide 5D modelling of construction, and can, as well as estimating project cost and providing 5D construction simulation, be used to provide location-based information for location-based management of construction.
Projectflow has been assisting with the development of Vico's Control - a powerful NEW planning, scheduling and control tool which takes CPM scheduling to a new level of power and performance - for over four years. We have worked with Vico to integrate the requirements of location-based management into the software. There is no other software on the market which has the power for managing the complex resource problems typically found in commercial projects such as hospital, hotel, or shopping centre construction (to start the list).
In civil construction we specialise complex locational projects and in maintenance scheduling. Vico's Control once again is used to schedule the complex projects where location is the driver of the work sequence. We have developed innovative solutions for projects such as airport runway improvements, pipe network replacements and tunnel construction.
In civil construction we also specialise in linear projects, such as road and rail, where we use the DynaRoad software package to provide mass-haul optimisation and scheduling. This powerful package provides the most comprehensive solution to the complex task of balancing materials and scheduling excavation, haulage and fill on major infrastructure projects.
